The Bell Witch Legend

The mystery of the Bell Witch began before America was colonized. The land around the Bell Witch cave was sacred. The Mississippians were the last Native nation to live in that area. They buried their dead in stone boxes. They placed the boxes in caves such as the one where the Bell Witch is reported today. The Bell Witch might protect sacred Native American graves. But, those stone boxes aren’t her only eerie connection to Native lore. She appeared to Drewry Bell and his father, John, when they were out hunting one day in 1817. At first, they thought that it was a huge turkey, and they shot at it. It started to fly away, and then it seemed to vanish into thin air. Later, John and Drewry told friends and family that it had looked “like a human.” But, it didn’t have a face like a human. In fact, it was terrifying. Soon after the hunting incident, the Bells and their neighbors saw many other strange creatures at the Bell’s farm by the Red River in Tennessee. One had head of a rabbit but the body of a dog. At least one person tried to shoot it, but–like the “turkey” they’d shot at earlier–it vanished. Another time, in the orchard near their house, Drewry and his younger sister Betsy saw an old woman walking slowly. Since the town was small, they were puzzled by this unfamiliar visitor. When Betsy started to speak to the old woman, she disappeared.  Then, the situation became worse at the Bell homestead. Each night, the family heard scratching and chewing noises outside their home, as if a large animal was trying to get inside. Next, the family heard odd whispering. Finally the Bell Witch began making sounds inside the home, like loud swallowing. She pulled the covers off beds when the children were sleeping. She physically tormented Betsy Bell, leaving ugly, red, stinging handprints where she’d slapped the child. Around this same time, John Bell began having difficulty swallowing. Something seemed to be wrong with his jaw and his tongue.  He recovered from these symptoms, but he became sicker and sicker with new and different symptoms. The Bell Witch seemed to be wearing him down. Now they say if you say “I hate the bell witch.” 7 times holding a candle or light in a mirror you’ll see her reflection.

Psychic Vampires

Psychic Vampire Symbol

Psychic vampires are not undead, they do not sleep in coffins or feed on blood of the living, and they are very much human. Their numbers are great and they can be found both near and far. This type of vampire energizes itself by draining the energies of those around them. They work on a more subtle level by destroying the will of his or her unwary victim and leave them feeling tired and drained, if they drain enough life force the victim can even die. They receive an energy surge while their victim succumbs to fatigue, dizziness, muscle tension, mood swings, depression, and physical illness. Dealing with them is relatively simple, you must first identify the vampire then put a wall of protection around yourself, imagining a white bright light. To protect yourself from them further you can wear a quart crystal.

Casting and Closing a Circle

Casting a Circle

There are plenty of ways to cast a circle simple ones
or ones that take more time. It is always better to cast
a circle before doing a spell because it keeps all energies
in check and gives you a boost. It is also good for
protection so no bad energy or mojo gets into the circle
to fail or mislead your spell. It is the best way to ensure
that the spell will not backfire. Too cast a circle you can
use a wand, a athame, or your finger.

Way #1:
Cleanse your thoughts and energies. Face North and point your wand, athame, or finger to the ground, then picture a glowing purple light as the energy flowing through your wand, athame, or finger. Turn clockwise in the middle of the circle that you are invisioning until the circle is fully formed with the purple energy.

Way #2:
Clear the area where you will cast the circle, sweep the area with your left to right with your broom. Take your wand, athame, or finger and face North. Turn clockwise inside your circle with your wand, athame, or finger pointing to the floor invisioning purple energy coming from the instrument you use. As you are making your circle be sure to chant "Witches sight and magick will, Draw this circle of power fill. Magicks both new and old, Gather now into the fold. This witches circle, though none can see,  Is rightly case so mote it be."

Closing a Circle

Closing a circle is not always done but is a good
idea to ensure the magick is basically bound and
will be untampered with.

Way #1:
Pick up your wand, athame, or finger and face at which point you have started the circle. Point your instrument at the circle turn counter clockwise and invision the purple energy disappearing or getting sucked back into your instrument until you complete the circle. When you are finished thank the Goddesses and God if wanted and then chant, "The circle is open but unbroken."

Familiars

Familiars are regular animals that have a magic quality to guide and protect their witches. Familiars are connected to the elements and nature like powers, so it is common for them to walk out when two people are fighting because they do not wish to absorb the bad energy coming from the fight. They are all unique to its witch and can basically be any type of animal the witch has an instant connection with cats, dogs, toads, owls, mice/rats, snakes, and birds. The connection is something you will feel and notice. They also guard the circle when spell work is being done. Witches can have more than one familiar. Each familiar gives us something to learn and gives us the protection and guidance we need in life. Familiars can be physical, spiritual, or astral also. They are not only good magickal protectors of your circle and everything around it, they are supernatural radars to detect evil by reacting in an unusual/mean way. It is always best to let them choose you.
